Cape Hatteras 08 - Day 4 Week Summary

We arrived in Cape Hatteras around 10:30am on Saturday morning. Chad and Kurt were already here and were ready to go kiting. Our first day here was pretty windy, so Ryan and the guys went kiteboarding right out in front of our beautiful house that we rented this year, the Sunset Serenade in Salvo. While Timothy took a nap, RJ went to the hot tub with Rebecca and then we went to watch daddy kiteboard. Afterward, we went grocery shopping for food and supplies for the week, since we were doing the cooking on Sunday. Chuck & Kevin and Scott and Kelly showed up later that evening.

Sunday, Emi and Andy showed up and it was not very windy, so we took it easy and went shopping in Nags Head.

Yesterday (Monday), we went to the beach to play in the sand. Andy gave kiteboarding lessons to Kelly, Rebecca and Erik and then we all went back to the house for lunch. While Ryan went out kiteboarding in the ocean, we had fun taking pictures at the house. We had a beautiful dock to take pictures at and also to watch the kiteboarders ride.

Today, the guys went kiting right in front of the house again. We took a break for lunch and some time in the hot tub before it was time to ride again.

Aruba day 3 video wrap

Had a great time in Aruba and as my 'tan' peels away and thoughts of the drysuit chill me. I'm not so skillfully editing up some of the raw handy cam footage. I was going to just put together the best clips, but then only Joe and Paul would be in the video. So last night I labeled all the raw clip and today started pulling videos for each person together..

The Ryan Waltz video.. He gets one even though he did most of the filming and it was his camera.. We all owe him for that. Thanks Ryan! This was my first vid of the night and I think I should go back and give Ryan more justice. He really was throwing down some heavy loops off camera.

Phil Burke does Bocca.. Thanks again Phil for a kick a$$ kite trip! Lessons learned slowly..Listen carefully to Phil he's right only about 110% percent of the time.

Rockin Kurt Anderson Style.. The constant bud who's always there for his bros and never quite rushes into anything.

Paul Porter Super Bad A$$.. And one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. It is amazing to me that nine out of the ten clips I had of Paul were all of him throwing down. Just goes to show that some people he just don't do lawns.

I've only gotten to Ryan, Phil, Kurt and Paul tonight. I'll get Joe next.

Wednesday, November 28, 2007 - Day 14

It was overcast, so we decided that it was a good day to go to the pool ... afterall, it looked as though it were going to start raining at any minute. We were going to get wet anyway. So we went down to the pool and played around for a bit, then it began sprinkling. No big deal, we can stay out in the pool with a little sprinkles. Then the wind began gusting and rain began pouring down ... we decided that since everyone else had left the pool area, we should leave too, since two wooden chairs had already blown over and the beach balls we were playing with had blown out of sight.

Eventually, it lightened up again and then stopped raining altogether, so we went back to the pool for round 2. This time, Timothy had fallen asleep in the hot tub, so I decided to take him up to the room to sleep while RJ and Ryan continued to play in the pool. We were so proud of RJ's progress in the pool. Not only did RJ learn to swim around using a noodle, but he also can go underwater all by himself. He is very proud of himself!

The boys were sleeping and we needed to leave the room so that housekeeping could come and clean. Ryan decided that since he had a few days with no wind or waves, that he would just paddle out at Honolua Bay for fun. When we got there, there were a lot of people out there and the waves were pretty small, but at least there were waves. As the time went by, the waves began to build and there were a few good sized waves that came through. I could see Ryan surf from where we had parked, and since the boys were sleeping, I didn't want to leave the car. I was able to take a few blurry pics from the window of the minivan.

Anyway, the boys woke up and Ryan had come in from surfing, so we needed to get ready for dinner with Uncle Sammy and the rest of the family at Asian Star in Wailuku. We stopped back at the hotel to pick up the map that Uncle Sammy had printed for us and made our way to the restaurant. Thank goodness for the map as it would have been difficult to find the place in its remote location. We had a nice Vietnamese dinner with the family and headed back to the hotel.
